A restroom’s enclosed environment, small space, constant humidity, and presence of excessive chemical substances create highly favourable breeding conditions for pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and other pests, ultimately leading to a significant amount of indoor allergens being produced.
Bathroom air health research results, drawn from a comprehensive University study, revealed that the toilet contains a substantial quantity of salmonella (associated with food contamination), Streptococcus (linked to urinary tract infections), Escherichia coli (causing urinary tract infections, sepsis, and diarrhoea), hepatitis viruses, colds, flu, rhinovirus, and similar harmful agents.
Human waste also harbours a variety of bacteria, viruses, parasites, and other dangerous pathogens, frequently including Staphylococcus aureus, among others. Furthermore, toilet odour is laden with a higher concentration of harmful gases, such as ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, and more.
Scenting methods can only serve to mask odours temporarily, without addressing the root cause of the problem, and are often a very expensive option. Additionally, chemical cleaning solutions provide only temporary results and can pose serious hazards.
