Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) are a group of compounds present in the air we breathe, that can build up in a range of everyday household and workplace items, like cleaners or disinfectants, air fresheners, paints and pesticides.
Commonly found in newly constructed or renovated workplaces, they’re emitted from brand new products like carpet, wooden furniture, fresh paint, and construction materials. They’re also present in the cleaning process, given off by cleaning products.
So while a room may be new, fresh, and clean, it doesn’t necessarily mean the air is healthy to breathe.
Exposure to TVOCs can result in eye, nose, and throat irritation, headaches, fatigue, allergic skin reactions, and dizziness. Long-term exposure to TVOCs can cause damage to human kidneys, liver, and nervous systems.
As TVOCs are invisible and dispersed throughout the air we breathe, they build up quickly, leaving the air in workplaces and office spaces toxic, and harmful for long-term use.
So having the right air purification system is critical to ensure the health and safety of its day-to-day users.
